London Book Fair 2025

The ever popular international London Book Fair was held on 11th – 13th March 2025, at Olympia London. Some 32,000 professionals including journalists, writers, editors, publishers and copyrights-based industry specialists were amongst the many others that attended this important annual event.
At this year’s show there was emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Copyright; there were discussions on AI’s impact, ethical implications, and the necessity of protective legislation. The Audio Village was a dedicated area highlighting the growth and innovation within the audiobook market. There was also emphasis on young reader development which sought to address literacy challenges, and development strategies to encourage reading among younger generations
Major features of the book fair included: conferences, writers summits and related presentations, and interlectual property rights. This year, keynote speakers included: David Shelley, CEO of Hachette UK and Hachette Book Group; James Daunt, CEO of Waterstones and Barnes & Noble; William Rayfet Hunter, author and winner of the #Merky Books New Writers’ Prize 2022, and novelist and journalist Taylor-Dior Rumble. The International Rights Centre as always was extremely busy with around 550 tables available for Rights trading.
A highlight event at the Romanian stand was the visit by H.E. Mrs Laura Popescu, Romania’s ambassador to the UK, to launch the theme “Literature as Redemption”. VIP guests to the Romanian stand included distinguished poet and European Poet of Freedom Prize 2016 winner Ana Blandiana: known for her acclaimed work My Native Land A4.
In terms of new books and deals, there was considerable interest in celebrity memoirs including, Sylvester Stallone’s The Steps and Boris Becker’s Inside: Winning, Losing, Starting Again. New novels included Patrick Ness’s Meridian and debut works such as Caroline Wray’s Henry.
Truly international as the event is, there were art books, novels and teaching-based books from around the world. China had a significant presence at the show, presenting an extensive range of art and written works, and teaching-based books.
